I love this bush. We had a stand out in the woods, but I think the drought this year killed a lot of them. I just love those purple berries. They look almost unnatural, they are so pretty.
The berries get mixed reviews as to toxicity to humans, but many reliable sources maintain they are safe. I even noticed some jelly recipes, so someone must be eating them! But I think I will leave mine for the birds.
Love this plant and so do my birds!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you have a white variety as well as the standard, Dorothy! I had not idea that it could look so pretty!

ReplyDeleteYou had a natural stand, Holley? I've never seen one and would love to! I feel sure the birds have planted plenty in your woods to grow again.
Deletesuch lovely berries. Can you eat them?
